A perfect day for a walk exploring a sometimes overlooked corner of our beautiful county. The Solway mosses are a beautiful and important landscape and this walk got us close up to three of them crossing Campfield marsh and paying a visit to a fantastic lily pond then on to Rogersceugh farm with a 360 degree panorama of Scottish hills, the distant north Pennines and the Lakes northern fells. We then crossed a corner of Bowness Moss and the line of the old railway that we would come across later. A walk along the raised boardwalks of Glasson Moss sadly did not reveal any basking lizards and we turned towards the coast following the Hadrians Wall path to its start/finish line. A final treat was a visit to the remains of the railway viaduct across the Solway. After a fine walk Ice cream was taken at the bistro in Bowness - highly recommended.
Thanks to everyone who came along
