I was delighted to see 12 of us meet up at Buttermere for this walk, and also to extend a warm welcome to both Maggie, and to Paul walking with us for the first time. Although a tough route, everyone took this in their stride and we were soon enjoying the splendid views that Buttermere has to offer. A short break at Bleaberry Tarn was followed by an ascent onto Dodd for more fine views and then with amazing agility up the screes to the summit of Red Pike. It was then on to High Stile for lunch, leaving only High Crag to be conquered before descending back to the lakeside and into Buttermere for very welcome refreshments. The weather forecast wasn’t brilliant, but we were lucky to have a fine day with cloud free tops. Thank you so much to everyone that took the chance with the weather and turned out for the walk, also making my job as leader a very easy one today.
