Brilliant day today with blue skies from the start
As promised we did a fair bit of road walking but mostly traffic free save for a few hardy cyclists. We tackled a few tricky stiles along the way before reaching the river South Tyne
The waterfall at Ashgill put on a fine display and those walkers who ventured behind the falls experienced it’s full force - a real assault on the senses.
A relatively easy stile - free return through the extensive lead mine workings led us back to the cars.
Special mention for The Hive community cafe in the converted chapel in Nenthead. They made us very welcome, staying open after their normal closing time and even giving out free cakes!
