Considering the weather forecast I was rather surprised to find ten people at the Sands. It was nine more than I expected. We did have one noticeable absentee, Dennis, a stormy character and I expected him to turn up at some point in the walk but thankfully he stayed away. In fact it turned out to be great day, not a drop of rain and very little wind. We even had a few sunny spells. I did say in my walk description that it would probably be muddy, I was not wrong but I rarely am. It was without doubt one of the muddiest walks I’ve ever been on. We had to make a detour at one point as the River Eden was so high the path was six feet under water but we got back on track and carried on. A great day and a great bunch of walkers.
