A Walk
Blencathra - via Sharp Edge

Getting off the bus at Scales it looked debatable as to what the weather may hold for us. We set off as planned and soon hit the short pull up scales beck and the approach to Sharp Edge. A little windy and damp it was always going to end up a challenge doing the scramble and so it proved the case. Plotting our way and taking our time was the watch word of the day that saw us achieve a tricky ascent up sharp edge in swirling cloud. A great effort by all and a real sense of achievement
on hitting the top of the gully.
A relaxing walk to the summit of Halls Fell top, which was covered in cloud so no point hanging around there. 15 minutes along the ridge we had to stop for dinner as I was feeling like my throat had been cut and no one wants a hungry leader. As we ate the cloud cleared and the brilliant views opened up all around. So it was down via Blease Fell in pretty good conditions. A lovely walk back from the Blencathra Centre through woods, by the river and then along the old railway line into Keswick. All with loads of time for afternoon tea. Thanks to the other 9 for giving it a go and welcome to Bob a new member. See you all next time.
