A Walk: Skiddaw
8 of us started the Skiddaw walk from the layby near Ravenstone Hotel, hoping the weather would improve.
It was patchy on the way up, with a touch of wind but no rain. However, when we reached the ridge on Skiddaw, the wind battered us, sideways-leaning walking! And it was a tad cold!! We huddled at the trig point and had lunch, a short one due to the wind and cold. We carried on climbing Little Man and Jenkins Hill. On the way down, the weather improved greatly and the walk into Keswick was a pleasant one.
Thanks to all for coming

B Walk: Newlands Valley
9 of us on the walk today, setting off from Portinscale, progress was made and our first landmark was arrived at, Catbells, normally looking at this mountain usually you see hundreds of people tackling it but it was surprisingly quiet with only a handful of people. On reaching the river crossing a short break was taken and the scenery was taken in, I find it doesn't matter what time of year you are in the Lake District the scenery always amazes and today was no different with the recent rainfall the rivers and becks looked much healthier and plenty of water coming off the fells made for some
impressive waterfalls.
Lunch was taken at the mine and after lunch we decided to support the local church, Newlands, who were having a coffee morning, or should that be afternoon?? we then retraced our steps back to Keswick and the refreshments.
Thanks to all who came along.
Stephen
