Nine of us from Buttermere, initially wrapped up in warm clothing as it was a bit chilly to kick off. This was soon remedied by the steep pull up on the Robinson path toward Buttermere Moss. Items of clothing gradually discarded as the sun and exertion took over. What a fantastic day and the views just got better and better all day.
We descended to Newlands Hause and then up hill again to the summit of Knott Rigg. Dinner taken in brilliant sunshine and bright blue sky, after which we headed off to Ard Crags. A steep but short path taking us down to the Sail Beck valley and the superb path that would take us back on the long walk back to Buttermere. Mr Flynn introduced a new sport of New Member Tossing. This entailed throwing ladies, preferably relatively new members into the nearest beck or Gill. I can really see this catching on, looked great fun unless you were the one being tossed. Anyway everyone made it back to the Cafe for after walk tea and buns. Great day out, thanks to everyone for pitching up.
Pete.
