7 members out on the A walk enjoyed a fabulous blue sky winters day on the fells. Setting off up the steady climb of Thornythwaite fell we were soon into the sunshine, taking our time to soak it all in. We arrived onto Combe Head just after mid-day where we had lunch. Reluctantly leaving the highest point of the walk there followed a tricky descent on frozen ground into Combe Door  - however the bonus of the frozen ground was that we didn't have to worry about the boggy bits - just walk straight across. Picking our way around or over rocky undulating fell we soon arrived at Rosthwaite Cam which was climbed for extra excitement! Then it was down to Tarn at Leaves and for 6 up and back to our only Wainwright - Bessyboot, the leader elected to wait. Then it was a careful descent to cross Combe Gill - 4 actually managed to cross without slipping into it!! Still no harm done and we were soon enjoying the open fire and a brew in the YHA at Longthwaite. Thanks to all who came for what was a great day out.
