.
We were lucky to get a perfect autumn day for this walk with bright sunshine and no wind.
The trees were just starting to change colour and as we walked through the deer park we had good views of the Black Fallow deer herd as well as a more distant glimpse of the Bagot goats.
The walk along the disused section of the Lancaster canal was interesting and we had lunch at one of the still intact canal bridges that sits slightly incongruously in the middle of a field.
The river Kent which we followed for two or three miles was relatively low and there was plenty of wildlife on the river. A final muddy section of the canal towpath led us up to the road just before the now empty Clarkes shoe factory and we made our way into the centre of Kendal to enjoy refreshments in the market square. A great way to finish a fine walk.
Thanks to all those who came along, especially one or two new faces.
