B Walk Report & Photos

Whatever you think of AW he got it right about Haystacks. It takes in just about everything thats good about the Lake District Fells in 1900ft of rock. Great views, some easy but fun scrambling, a couple of tarns, and when the weather is this good its just as well to let the pictures do the talking of the day we had. Mr Flynns 77th birthday, keep on trucking Flynnstone.

Thanks to those who turned up, and the cake and tea was very good at Buttermere.

A Walk Report & Photos

Great Dodd (at 19th highest in the Lake District) may not be the most popular based on the fact we didn’t cross paths with anyone – we only saw small groups from a distance – but the views were stunning, all the way from Grisedale Pike down to the Coniston Fells in the South, not to mention Blencathra and the Helvellyn Range in the near foreground.  A fairly easy walk because we started at approx. 1300 ft. with a gradual climb up to Great Dodd.  With limited time after work, I think Great Dodd alone (just took over an hour to reach the summit) would be an ideal walk on a summer’s evening.  We’d completed Great Dodd, Calfhow Pike, Clough Head and White Pike within 3 ⅟2 hours, before heading down to the Old Coach Road.  Thanks to all who came on the walk, making it a great day out, finishing off with a good cuppa in Threlkeld Coffee Shop.
