C Walk
Dent Circular
6 Miles Grade 4
Leader: John McKay
Report & Photos by John McKay
Thirty four on the coach today and ten of us set off on the C Walk. I hadn’t had time to do a recce so I had no idea what to expect. It was quite a long steep start and after about 10 minutes Mel felt unwell and decided to return to the coach. Thankfully when we got back to Dent we discovered she was ok. The rest of us trudged on and finally reached the top. As we admired the view, a few comments were made, “grade 4, I don’t think so”. It was quite a climb and I discovered later it was the same start as the A Walk and some of them were complaining about the steep start. Perhaps the C walkers had a point but they all made it. It was a lovely day and lunch, sitting in the sunshine, was very pleasant. The outward half of the walk was very rocky and quite muddy in parts but the inward half was much better, a nice path and fields which took us back to the lovely little village of Dent and some very nice ice cream and ginger beer. A great bunch on the walk, many thanks to them for their company and my apologies for my “grading error”
