Ullswater Way from Glenridding to Pooley Bridge on the Aira Force side.
What delightful weather despite the unpromising grey skies as we left Carlisle. Five of us had a tremendous walk of just over ten miles. We had everything – lakeshore path, level well-made path to Aira Force, tea shop stop there (!), waterfalls, ascent to the summit of Gowbarrow, descent to Swinburn Park, a bit of road, some fields – everything on good easily identifiable paths. We had throngs of visitors to pass during the ascent through Aira and multi-throngs in Pooley Bridge where many were paddling in the river. Despite that we found a table at Granny Dowbekins and downed ginger beers and teas in record time. Many thanks to those who came.
