Walk & Event Reports
Nine took the long trek up the valley all the way to Addacomb beck after leaving the coach. We then had the steep pull up the ridge taking us to Addicomb hole and then the summit of Wandhope. Unfortunately this was done in thick cloud with little viz which meant all you could see in the glaciel bowl was a mass of clag. It was a very tough climb the path turning into a really good ridge walk and my heart was truly warmed by the smiles on the faces of the group as they struggled one heavy foot at a time all the way up to Wandhope.
There was still a bit of snow on the top and we had lunch looking happily at the mass bank of grey cloud. It was then down via Whitelss Pike. On the way down it was very windy but this cleared the cloud and gave us some good, if bleak views across the lakes of the valley. It wasn’t long before we were back in Buttermere for tea and buns.
Thanks to all who gave this one a go.
Pete
