What a truly lovely walk.  It just shows you don’t need to go very high to appreciate some astounding views.  Ten of us parked just above Windermere town and climbed to our first viewpoint, School Knott, where we lingered before continuing on The Dales Way through gentle countryside and stopping beside a stream for lunch.  We did come across a new gate which led against a wall; a bit of bemusement.  Lovely blues – bluebells, forget-me-nots, wild violas maybe? Out second viewpoint was up Brant Fell where Windermere opened out before us to show yachts battling with the winds.  It was a kind of jackets-on-jackets-off kind of a day with warm sunshine then cool breezes.  Finally we walked to Post Knott and down on The Dales Way, into Windermere and into a rather wonderful café in the centre which had rugs on each outside chair so you could keep warm.  Thank you, John,  for a wonderful walk.  Two members with instruments made it somewhere between nine and ten miles.
