.A poor weather forecast was clearly not enough to put off a good contingent of 18 walkers .
We also welcomed two new recruits to the club and as it turned out the promised downpours
didn’t materialise . After a very muddy field crossing we enjoyed a section of road walking then firm
going on the bridle way up to Brockle Crag before making the grassy climb on Great Cockup.
We were welcomed by a near gale force wind but this eased as we dropped into the narrow ravine
of Trusmadoor .On the way down we had a very close encounter with a lively vole which
seemed determined to head up someone’s trouser leg before heading off into the undergrowth
A final boggy section was negotiated before returning to the village on a minor road.
We just about made last orders at the Craggs on the return to Carlisle
Thanks to everyone who came along to see out 2023
