C Walk

Dufton to Appleby

Today,s revised walk from Dufton to Appleby worked out very well, as we arrived in Appleby before the rain was more than a spit. Nine of us set off through Dufton Ghyll and along the fields to Flakebridge wood. Some interesting stiles were struggled through or over en route with very little wet ground, surprisingly. Lunch was taken in the relatively sheltered wood, then we continued, to join the minor road under the A66 and down to the Jubilee bridge. As it had started to rain a bit by then, there were no takers for extending the walk, so we took the lane up to the castle and made for a café, where some of us enjoyed wonderful Paradise cake!
