Thirteen ramblers eventually managed to make the start of the walk at Appleby despite the closure of the A66 at PenrithThe day turned out to be mild and mostly spring like with the added bonus of being largely mud free
A visit was made to the pretty St James’s church at Ormeside and lunch was enjoyed by Rutter Falls where the sun made a brief and welcome appearance. We followed the Hoff beck as planned and the final short climb out of the valley rewarded us with a fine panorama of the pennies with High Cup Nick and Murton Pike taking centre stage
