A wonderful summer evening and what better way to spend it than having a wonderful walk and that’s exactly how we spent the evening. Great turnout, fourteen of us set off for Gilsland Spa where we met up with Anne and Ken. I had only booked a table for twelve but fortunately the Samson Inn where able to fit us all in. We were a little late setting off as three of our party missed the turn for the Gilsland Spa but realized it quite quickly so it wasn’t that bad. We made our way down to the river and across the stepping stones then up into the woods. We made a stop at the sulphur spa and a few had a taste, I would tell you what they thought it tasted like but I don’t know how to spell diarrhoea. We paid the obligatory visit to the Popping Stone which I’ve always found totally underwhelming. It was then back up through the woods to the car park and off to the Samson Inn. What a lovely pub it is and what a great meal it was. I’m not, never have been and never will be a vegetarian but I was intrigued by the roasted beetroot and sweet potato chips so I thought I would give it a try, it was delicious. A lovely evening with lovely group of people.
Thanks to all of you for coming along.
John
