A bit of a history walk today of about 9 miles and four thousand years. Starting from 18th century Lowther Castle to pre historic earthworks and standing stones and then calling in at 15th century Brougham Hall and 16th century Clifton Hall by the way of the site of the last battle between armies on British soil in 1745. Alot of dates and alot weather but overall a fine ramble despite the routes close proximity to the noisy M6
