Arthur's Pike from Askham

Despite the scheduled walk being from Martindale 14 walkers indulged the walk leader by happily agreeing to a change of location: having decided after a hard overnight frost it would be safer not to drive the twisty Martindale route.
So we set off from the middle of Askham, with a steady climb up onto Heughscar Hill, admiring the views over Ullswater & the snow on the Helvellyn Range. From there it was down to the Cockpit and then another steady climb onto Arthur's Pike, keeping the views over the lake for as long as possible.
Lunch was taken on the top and then we continued across and onto The Roman road and back down onto Askham moor. Tea and cake in the Queen's Head finished a bracing walk with some smashing views. Thanks to everyone for their most amenable company- I really enjoyed the day
