On a dry but cool wednesday morning 15 of us made our way from Halbankgate along a minor road to Howgill.Climbing up hill past the old mine we eventually made our way to the summit of cold fell in time for lunch.After lunch we headed west along the side of Brown fell and down to the Gairs tramway.This eventually brought us back to the car park.A total distance of 6,2m.Although some of the walking was rough and muddy. We all got back in time for refreshments at Lanercost priory.
