12 walkers joined me on a beautiful sunny morning to climb Warbla. We were joined by some frisky young cattle as we came through the gate onto the hill but thankfully they soon lost interest. We stopped often to remove layers and admire the views and contemplate the change of surroundings if the proposed planting of Sitka spruce and accompanying deer fences goes ahead. The descent to Skipperscleugh was steep and soft going in places. Then we crossed to the lower slopes of Whita Hill, now known as the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve and enjoyed the walk through the ancient oak woods. After lunch we walked back to Langholm battling bracken on one section and then
enjoying looking down on the golf course before refreshments at First Bite. Thanks to everyone for their good company and to Ken for backmarking.
