19 of us set off from Rosthwaite, after a slightly delayed start, due to a variety of roadworks en route and manoeuvring into the National Trust car park! Thanks to Ann for leaping out of the car and ascertaining that there were plenty of spaces left!

We took the path up the Puddingstone track, stopping to admire the wonderful view of Borrowdale behind us, before descending into Watendlath. The tarn looked immaculate, with beautiful clear reflections in the water and scarcely any wind at all. After availing ourselves of the facilities we continued on along the path besides Watendlath Beck. The heavy rain of the previous day meant that it was a little wet underfoot at times, but we really appreciated the effect when we got to Lodore Falls.

After lunching at the Falls we traversed carefully down the steep path to High Lodore Farm, crossed the bridge and negotiated the duckboards on our way to Grange. The signpost indicating 2 miles to Rosthwaite at this juncture was a welcoming one. Some liquid refreshment was enjoyed at the Scarfell Hotel on our return to Rosthwaite, but I promise to do better on the scone front next time!

Throughout the walk we were treated to some brilliant autumnal colours and quite a bit of sunshine. Thanks to everyone for their company.
