Twelve of us set off in pleasant walking conditions, happy to escape the
noise of the grass-cutting team at the village hall! The walk was a
mixture of the familiar and routes new even to the locals among us. It
was good to see that the Fairy Loup waterfall was flowing again,
although largely obscured by the lush vegetation.
The Rowanburn phonebox shop did a roaring trade, and it made Catherine's
day to discover that the box had been manufactured in her home town of
Kirkintilloch!
The sun appeared as we made our way along the final stretch of river,
and six of us enjoyed tea and scones, etc., served by a lovely and most
welcoming waitress at the Cross Keys.
Thank you all for coming, and special thanks to my back markers, Judy
(?) and Tony.
