Report & Photos by Jo Agnew
Seathwaite is always a risk weather wise, but it almost paid off for us, remaining dry until we were on our descent! I decided to reverse the walk from that originally posted, so 14 of us set off from the farm, passing over Stockley Bridge (named for Sandra of course!) and bearing left we made the steep but steady ascent up Grains Gill, crossing the stream more than once. In fact stream crossing was a significant part of the walk both up and down! Looking back we had some good views down the valley towards Derwent Water in the distance. Lunch was had at Sprinkling Tarn, but as it was very windy with the mist threatening to roll over us we didn't linger too long. It was then downhill to Styhead Tarn and the path back towards Stockley Bridge. A little slippery on the rock in places, which caused a few wobbles, but we all made it back down, including newcomers to the group, Etta and Alan. Well done! We rounded off the walk in the accustomed manner, before setting off home. A great sociable walk, thanks to all.
