16 of us gathered outside William Howard School, Brampton. I decided to cut out visiting the old Church in favour of getting to the Abbey Bridge at Lanercost for lunch at a reasonable time, i.e 1.00 p.m. The forecast was for showers. However , by the time we were heading towards Castlesteads it was tipping down and looked as though it was set for the day. We gathered for a conflab whether to turn back at Walton or carry on regardless. The Eyes has it so we carried on.
What a great decision. We lunched at Lanercost, walked back through Quarry Beck which was a delight in its full autumnal beauty, then fabulous views over The Ridge. Congratulations to Ken who now his Degree in Gate Opening and Back Marking.
