19 walkers joined me today having battled through roadworks galore to reach the Muckle Toon. We walked along the path to Skippers Bridge then began the long slow haul to the summit of Warbla. The steady rain and damp terrain made this the hardest part of the walk. The track down was much easier as the weather improved and we found a sheltered spot for lunch before a section of road and then the gentle ascent of the Glebe, a great place for sledging. We then had a steady climb to the water tank halfway up Meikleholm Hill encountering Galloway cattle in the distance before descending to the Esk valley and the riverside walk to the Buccleuch Centre for refreshments. Thanks to all for coming.
