9 Members enjoyed a pleasant walk in a slightly damp Whinlatter Forest . From the Whinlatter Pass road we set off from the "Ice Cream Van" lay by overlooking Bassenthwaite Lake, and after a short length of road walking entered the forest and gently ascended to the Visitor Centre and saw the Osprey Information Point. We continued upwards to the top of the forest, via Horsebox Crossroads and Tarbarrel Moss, from where a short ascent took us to the top of a breezy Lord's Seat, the main summit of the walk. Lunch was postponed until a sheltered spot was found en route to Barf, another splendid viewpoint. A rocky path descended back to the forest, and tracks took take us back to the start just as the heavier rain was starting. Although the high tops were covered in cloud we still had some excellent views.
