Lanercost

9 hardy souls with complete waterproofs at the ready, anticipating a soggy walk round Grasmere and Rydal Water, found themselves in an entirely different location instead! Guided by the Met office forecast we opted to go east, rather than south and west and enjoyed a lovely walk along the River Irthing from Lanercost to Lannerton. After all the recent heavy rain the gorge section of the walk was quite impressive. Although it was a little wet underfoot at times the weather remained dry throughout. We returned to Lanercost along the Hadrian's wall path to tea at Lanercost Priory tea rooms.
