It was lovely to see how many turned out for this walk, considering the weather forecast! Twenty four of us, met at Glenridding, well, 22 to begin with and another 2 at Patterdale. We met up at Glenridding because parking is free till Easter, so a little bonus there ( thanks for the information Alison!) Then a short walk to Patterdale to begin the main walk, I think the main reason so many came along was because of the Wordsworth connection, it is reputedly where he saw the famous wild daffodils which inspired his most famous poem. This area was also regarded by Alfred Wainwright to be part of one of the most beautiful walks in the Lakes.
It was drizzling when we set off but soon stopped, and we enjoyed the walk in dry(ish) conditions, little mud! It only started to rain when we were almost back at the parking place. Most of us tootled off to what was the Cocklakes cafe and farm shop for refreshments afterwards, its now known as Base Camp, still as welcoming and enjoyable.
All in all , a good day had by all, with no stiles and very little mud, and beautiful views,
even if few daffodils
