Nine people set off from the school in Irthington and we were soon in the fields and meadows with lovely views in all directions. The weather was perfect for walking, sunny with a cooling breeze. We passed through Newtown and Laversdale, braved several fields of cows and everyone climbed the tricky sealed gate without mishap but lots of grunts!
After joining the Hadrian’s Wall path we stopped for our lunch break in a field near Blea Tarn and then continued back towards Irthington. Once we were back in Irthington we were able to get refreshments in the garden of the Sally Inn which finished the day off perfectly.
