20 of us gathered along the roadside to The Hidden River cabins at the start of a perfect Spring day. The first part of this walk took us through the tricky bit of the walk stepping carefully over and between tree roots and rocks. We stopped frequently to look at the abundance of wild flowers, mosses and grasses while walking through this SSI.
At Shank Castle we were treated to a private viewing of Marjorie Corrie’s wonderful garden with some of us coming home with plants which Marjorie was happy to dig up and share.
Thanks to all for coming along and special thanks to my walking buddies Linda Nichol and Chris Fortune for helping me with the reccies last week.
Tea and Scones were enjoyed at Whitesyke Garden Centre, Longtown.
