Carlisle & District Rambling & Fellwalking Club

Walk & Event Reports

It was wet and windy as twelve walkers began the gentle ascent of Whita Hill. When we turned to continue up the track to the Monument, the wind and rain intensified and it wasn’t a lot of fun. We had a brief stop at the top with no views of the Isle of Man! Two walkers decided to descend to the town for lunch by an easier route and the remaining ten headed south to begin the descent on a sometimes slippery path. Soon we were out of the wind and the rain stopped. We found a lovely lunch spot among the birch and oak trees and afterwards continued down to the quiet road beside the Esk before following paths back to the delights of First Bite. Thanks to Anne and Ken for their help and to all the walkers for their cheerful demeanour despite the conditions.
