A misty day on the fells above Caldbeck today but still an enjoyable round taking in four Wainwrights. Twenty walkers and three dogs set off from Fellside. A steady climb up onto Brae Fell got most of the climbing out of the way and what followed was a “technically flat” (according to the leader) circuit over Great Sca Fell and Knott before crossing Grains gill to reach Lingy Hut. Lunch was taken here and the clouds began to lift prompting a decision to press on over High Pike. Unfortunately the clouds failed to part although it was clear that the sun was shining on Caldbeck Village.
An easy descent was made back to the cars. We came across the b walkers enjoying an alfresco coffee in the village and they confirmed that they had enjoyed a sunny days ramble. Thanks to everyone who came along.
