Thanks to everyone who joined the 19 strong expedition to Haydon Bridge and the river Allen
Although the route was curtailed due to a damaged footbridge that prevented us visiting Staward Peel tower there was still plenty of interest.
At one point the walk leader was “rounded up”by a sheep dog and given a nip on his ankle for not moving along fast enough Fortunately no blood was drawn. After lunch was taken at Planky Bridge a revised route took us past the remote farm at Harsondale which is still worked by heavy horses. We rejoined the planned route at this point making our way past Langley Castle and dropping down into Haydon bridge
Tea was taken at Oddfellows cafe only recently established but well worth a return visit
